Insurer scorecard

Compare Florida insurers on more than price

Almost every comparison ranks insurers by price alone. This one adds the two things that matter when you actually have a claim: how often customers complain, and whether the company can pay. Sort it any way you like.

How to read this. The NAIC complaint index adjusts for company size: 1.00 is average, and lower is better. AM Best measures financial strength (ability to pay claims). Florida price is a tendency, not your quote, since your own rate depends on your ZIP, record, and credit. The cheapest company for you is still found only by comparing real quotes.

Why complaints and ratings matter

The cheapest quote is not the whole story. Two numbers tell you how a company behaves when you need it. The NAIC complaint index, published by state regulators, measures how many complaints a company gets relative to its size: 1.00 is average, and a lower score means fewer complaints. AM Best measures financial strength, the ability to pay a wave of claims, which matters in a hurricane state. A cheap insurer with a high complaint index can cost you far more than the premium you saved when a claim goes sideways.

Use it as a shortlist, not a verdict. Price tendencies are directional, and the cheapest company for you depends on your ZIP code, record, and credit. Use the scorecard to pick two or three companies worth quoting, then compare real quotes at matching coverage.
